Julie McDonald is a Physician Assistant at Aspire Urgent Care.
Julie is a practicing Emergency Medicine PA for the past 26 years, and received her Bachelors of Science from Dickinson College, and later earned a Masters in Health Science and Physician Assistant degree from The George Washington University PA program.
She commenced her career in the ER in Alexandria, VA for 5 years, and then in Los Angeles for 12 years, where she served as the Chief PA/Director at Glendale Adventist. While in LA, Julie also taught Emergency Medicine to the PA students at USC and Western University. During this time, she had her own consulting business, creating Urgent Care within ERs, and staffing them with PAs. Julie’s experience also covered part time work for a Dermatologist in Los Angeles, where she also performed cosmetic procedures.
In 2013, she moved to Central PA and started working at Pinnacle/UPMC ERs, where she met Dr White. In 2022, Julie began working at Aspire, and still works monthly in the UPMC ERs.
Julie believes Aspire UC is a hidden gem and is honored to be part of the team. She believes that a key differentiator is Aspire’s ability to get patients in and out quickly due to dual provider coverage. Patients are worked up efficiently and thoroughly, without
compromising quality care, which keeps many patients out of our inundated ERs. She believes the compassion and connection with patients even after they have left the building is what makes Aspire so unique.
Julie has been married for 25 years to her husband and they have two active teenagers. When Julie is not working she is either cooking, hiking with her Golden Retriever, working out, or watching her two kids play lacrosse, field hockey, and golf.
